LAMINATE

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO BEFORE INSTALLING FAUS LAMINATE FLOORING?

Make sure the surface of the subfloor is completely dry and clean, in addition it must not slope more than 3 mm per lineal meter. In case of higher slope, it would be necessary to correct the irregularities with a leveling compound.

Leave unopened cartons flat in the room where flooring will be installed for at least 48 hours before installation to acclimate the product.

Lay Faus underlay to provide your floor a bit more thermal and acoustic insulation, avoiding moisture Also it will bridge minor gaps that subfloor could have. The overall room temperature must be of around 18º C.

The essential basic tools for laminate flooring installation are :

 • Hand saw, electric saw or jigsaw.

 • Measuring tape, level, pencil, utility knife and adhesive tape

 • Expansion gap spacers and special installation spacers

When installing laminate flooring around pipes, under doorways or trims, for the skirting and/or moulding fitting, you will also need : pull bar, miter saw, screwing machine, electric saw, false carpenter’s square and white glue D3.

WHAT IS LAMINATED FLOORING MADE OF?

FAUS is a laminate flooring manufactured according to European standards (EN 13329 regulation) and having the CE label according to EN 14041 regulation.

 • FAUS laminate flooring is made of a high density (HDF) fiber board, according to EN 316 regulation.

 • The upper layer is made of a decorative paper impregnated in amino-plastic resins. This decorative paper is a perfect imitation of the different wood types and decors.

 • The bottom layer is also a melamine paper called Kraft, and it acts as a counterbalance and as an insulator.

This premium quality Overlay gives FAUS a surface resistance to wearing, impact, scratching, staining, cigarette burns, etc., a resistance than a few products can get. It meets all the requirements of EN 13329 regulation.

WHY I CHOOSE FAUS TO INSTALL IT IN MY PLACE?

When you are going to buy a laminate flooring, always choose a premium quality covering, assembled on a first quality particle board (HDF: High Density Fiber) and that offers a high resistance to humidity. Also, the join system must be consistent and put up a high resistance to separation.

FAUS gives you the last and most advanced technical novelties, apart from having perfect finishes, that don't have any deformity, neither a minimum colour variation.

All this is controlled in any of the ranges of FAUS.

HOW TO REPAIR SURFACE SCRATCHES ON LAMINATE FLOORING?

Laminate flooring offers higher resistance to scratches than other varnished floor and in addition Faus laminate flooring complies with the standard EN13329 (EN424 and EN425) and doesn’t present any visual damage for the tables’ feet or the furniture wheels; but in any case this mean that it doesn’t get scratched. The best way to solve them is trying to prevent scratches on the surface with a good forecast.

To prevent your laminate flooring from being scratched, use felts on the legs of chairs, tables, pieces of furniture, etc. In case of wheelchairs, the wheels should be W-type (in accordance with German standard DIN 68131). If not, use a polycarbonate carpet to avoid their direct contact with laminate flooring.

Our recommendation is to use a doormat outside the main entrance to protect your flooring against sand.

HOW SHOULD FAUS BE CLEANED? HOW DO I REMOVE PERSISTENT STAINS?

 • Clean FAUS with a vacuum cleaner or with a dry mop. And if it is necessary use a wiping cloth an a synthetic detergent. Avoid the use of water in excess.

 • To remove persistent stains, you only have to apply a bit of domestic-use alcohol and then rub sofltly.

 • It is recommended to place a doormat in the main entrance to protect the flooring from sand and external dirt.

IS THERE SPECIAL PRODUCTS TO CLEAN LAMINATE FLOORING?

Simply use a broom, a damp mop or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush. Never use abrasive accessories (steel wools, scouring pads, etc.) or cleaning machines to laminate flooring care.

You will find on the market some products specially designed for laminate flooring care.

ENGINEERED WOOD

ENGINEERED, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ?

WOOD IS WHAT IN TECHNICAL TERMS IS CALLED A HYGROSCOPIC MATERIAL. THIS MEANS THAT IT ADJUSTS ITS FORM ACCORDING TO VARYING TEMPERATURES AND FLUCTUATIONS IN HUMIDITY. UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE CHANGING CLIMATE IN YOUR HOME AND THROUGH THE ONGOING PROCESS OF SHRINKING AND SWELLING, TRADITIONAL SOLID FLOORS OFTEN START CUPPING OR WARPING AFTER SOME TIME. ENGINEERED WOODEN FLOORS OFFER THE PERFECT SOLUTION FOR THAT PROBLEM. MULTILAYER FLOORS ARE SEMI-SOLID WOODEN FLOORS, SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO MINIMIZE THE NATURAL MOVEMENT OF THE WOOD (AND THEREFORE THE DEFORMATION).

LALEGNO’S ENGINEERED FLOORS ARE COMPOSED OF DIFFERENT LAYERS OF WOOD.

 • A TOP LAYER, MADE OF SOLID OAK, TROPICAL WOOD OR BAMBOO OF EXCELLENT QUALITY.

 • A STABILIZING SUBSTRUCTURE.

THE DIFFERENT LAYERS ARE PLACED CROSSWISE ON TOP OF EACH OTHER, AND THEN FIRMLY GLUED TO ONE ANOTHER UNDER HIGH PRESSURE. THUS, ALL TENSIONS THAT MAY ARISE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE CHANGES OR FLUCTUATIONS OF THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY IN YOUR HOME ARE COUNTERBALANCED. THIS CONSTRUCTION IS WHAT MAKES MULTILAYER FLOORING SO SOLID AND VERY STABLE. AFTER CORRECT INSTALLATION IN HEALTHY HOMES AN ENGINEERED FLOOR BARELY MOVES. AN ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGE IS THAT THIS PRODUCTION PROCESS ALLOWS US TO PRODUCE LONGER AND WIDER PLANKS WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE STABILITY.
